Nicholas Jacob Picard, 43, of Meyersville, went to be with his Lord and Savior on February 14, 2026. Nick was born on January 12, 1983, in Arizona to Valorie Neff and was the eldest of five boys. From an early age, he carried the quiet weight and pride of being the big brother. He graduated from Floresville High School in 2001 and went on to build a career defined not just by hard work, but by loyalty and leadership.
Nick found his professional calling in the convenience store industry. Starting as an assistant manager with Exxon, he steadily worked his way up through dedication and grit, eventually becoming Operations Manager with The Texan. He believed in showing up, doing the work, and taking care of his people whether at work or at home.
But if you asked Nick what his greatest accomplishment was, it would never be a title or promotion. It was being "Dad."
On October 23, 2011, his life changed forever with the birth of his son, Rayland. When he married the love of his life, Johnna, on January 2, 2021, he didn't just build a marriage; he built a family. In February 2022, he officially became a father to Seeley and Slade not just in name, but in heart. On September 30, 2021, he welcomed his daughter, Lyanna. Their blended family stood on a promise spoken on their wedding day: More Tomorrow Than Today. And Nick lived that promise every single day.
His sole mission was simple and unwavering: to be the best father and husband he could be. He showed up. He stayed present. He loved fiercely.
Outside of work and fatherhood, Nick loved fishing, driving fast cars, and working on projects with friends. He was the kind of man who could fix what was broken, laugh loudly, and stand firm when life demanded strength.
In May 2025, Nick was diagnosed with leukemia. What followed was a battle defined by courage. Through countless treatments, a bone marrow transplant, and unimaginable physical trials, he fought with determination and faith. He fought for time. He fought for his family. He fought to the very end. On February 14, 2026, after giving everything he had, he was called home.
Nick is survived by his mother, Valorie Neff; his brothers, Michael Picard, Timothy Picard, Robert Picard, and Nathan Picard; his grandfather, Allen Hicks; his devoted wife, Johnna; and the true joys of his life- Rayland, Seeley, Slade, and Lyanna Picard.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 21, at 9:00 a.m. at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Meyersville, Texas, followed by the funeral service at 10:00 a.m.
Pallbearers will be Rick Garrett, Matt Nelson, Brent Coats, Brent Gohmert, Jacob Maddox, Kevin Slaker, Russell Squires and Robert Thomas. Honorary pallbearers are Michael Picard, Timothy Picard, Robert Picard and Nathan Picard.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Johnna Picard at 9001 US Highway 183 South, Cuero, TX 77954.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to Brian Dlugosch, Robert Thomas, and the entire team at The Texan for their unwavering support during Nick's battle; Jon New, Devin New, and everyone at New Distributing; the doctors, nurses, and staff at Methodist Hospital and the BMT Clinic in San Antonio; and the many family members and friends who prayed, showed up, and carried the family through this past year. Every prayer was felt. Every act of kindness mattered.
Nick's life was not defined by his illness, but by his love, his faith, and the legacy he leaves behind in four beautiful children who will forever carry his strength.
